Tis the Season

When I woke up this morning I had huge hopes for today, but I was a little sad that it was raining outside. Good news, however, it did not stop me from taking a quick little run. Yes, it was cold and by the time I was finished my shoes were soaked... my hat was dripping from the rain. It was nice to take the run in the morning because I was able to organize my thoughts for the day. Plus, it was able to get me ready for the rest of my day.

Today was the first day back at Martin Henry. I was thinking about not returning to Martin Henry for Christmas, but extra money is always welcome and Kristy (manager) and Debbi (owner) called me up, I caved to say the least. After making a few drinks which were questionable, I reoriented myself and was back in action. After I helped a few people, a couple new regulars (apparently since they questioned of who I was) there was this woman that came through. I of course, I was talking to her about her day. She was having a bad day at work and on top of that had a headache. For some reason, before she left, she made my day. She told me that I had beautiful skin and a gorgeous smile. Made my day! I hope that I was able to make her smile a little bit when I talked to her, I made her laugh... hopefully created a little light in her bad day. That is why I like this job, I think of it more as being a counselor, listening to people's lives and problems; especially when you get to know them. I had a great work day, but I was sad because I didn't see many of my regulars that I had when I worked there this summer. I am hoping that they just didn't come today and that I will see them on Thursday. As I talked to one of the regulars he said that Martin Henry has had many baristas come and these past couple months that it is hard to keep track of who is here and isn't... he was glad to see me back for a little bit.

I have pictures of how Kristy decorated the shop up with Christmas decorations, I even have my own Christmas stocking... I feel very special. I will put up some pictures later.

After I got off work, I went to meet my friend, Katie who I have known since 7th grade. It is always great to see old friends. And tomorrow, I should see Chris.

So the high hopes for the day? Definitely fulfilled!!
