3-day Vaca in Portland

Last weekend I had four wonderful days to relax. I always wondered, as I was growing up, how teachers got so tired and cranky; now I know.

I decided to take advantage of the four day weekend and I headed down to the Vancouver/Portland area where a good friend from college lives. I am pretty close to her family and friends with her little sister.

A couple weeks ago her dad was diagnosed with his brain tumor for the fourth time, and Meggan wanted me to come down to spend time with them. I thought it would be intruding, but I think they wanted the distraction.

Although it was pretty gloomy weather we soaked up the time and did quite a bit. Down below are pictures from the trip. The first one is from the 8k Meggan and I ran on Valentines Day. It was a little rainy and cold, but we made it through! It was Meggan's first race-- very proud of her. 8k is about 5 miles, and I just checked the results online. I was placed 5th out of 25 in my age category and 10th out of 93 in the overall of women. I was pretty pleased!
On Saturday the girls and I were indecisive in decision making. We weren't too sure what we wanted to do, especially with the weather because it was rainy and cloudy. Eventually we ventured up to a couple parks to walk around. We ended up having a fun time just goofing around... down below are just some shots from various parks....

Oh, and may I say that this wasn't an actual home somebody was living in, but a historical house that people could pay to visit. Needless to say, we didn't want to pay.

As you will notice Meggan and I are wearing the same jacket. Believe me, we did get weird looks. I didn't bring a rain jack with me, so I had to borrow one, so we ended up as twins!
Meggan (above) was my last roommate in college and I will be in her wedding this July! In the picture below, her little sister is in the middle!

Katie and I at her mom's birthday dinner. One of the nights we went out to celebrate their mom's birthday. It was good food, great laughs, and quite the memories.
I had a wonderful time! Just think, 5 weeks until Spring Break!
