Summer Time

There has been multiple occasions when I have opened up a blog to write and I have written something, but I never completed the blog. One goal for this evening, to finish at least one blog-- perhaps a bit of an update?? I will try to hit the main topics that I have been updating regularly, but maybe I will hit a few others as well. Ready?

Teaching Jobs/ Applications:
Recently there have been a couple Language Arts/ English teaching positions open. I have applied to the following school districts (with available jobs in each): Federal Way, Everett, Evergreen (down in Vancouver), and Tukwila. Unfortunately, I have yet to hear from any of these districts. The job posting in Federal Way closes tomorrow, keep your fingers crossed! All I am asking for is an interview so I am able to gain experience from interviewing. On the job postings, however, the districts are asking for master degrees. Furthermore, a few of these job postings are only for one year contracts. Either way, I just want the experience. It is interesting because most of my friends that are Science or Math majors have jobs and are already planning for their first year teaching (i.e. lessons, units, readings, labs, etc...). Jealous? I think so!

Rock 'n' Roll Marathon:
A couple weekends ago was the Rock 'n' Roll marathon. As much as I wanted to run, I had to work all day. There was no way getting out of work because the company just fired a girl... leaving only 4 of us girls. On a normal day, there are three girls that work, and one of the girls was going out of town for a cheerleading thing (she is a cheer coach). Oh well. As I have been researching more marathons around Seattle, I came across another in November. I have contemplated this, talked to a few who have ran this course before, and thought about it some more. As of the moment, I have yet to sign up (which I should), but I want to run the half. Apparently there are quite a few girls I know that have signed up for this race! So hopefully I won't wait too long to sign up!
If you would like to look at the course, this is the link. It may take a few minutes to come up (or maybe it is just my computer that is slow)... but this is the course.

Coffee Job:
Towards the end of college when I was working the coffee jobs, I couldn't wait to leave everyday. This time, it is a little different. Maybe because I know it will be temporary until September when I start subbing, but when I get there (even at 4:45 am) I am okay with working this job. Although some days (such as today) were slow, I was exhausted, and it took all of my energy to get out of bed at 3:30 am... it is still okay. My old manager from a couple years ago is coming to visit in August, hopefully we are all able to get together. This company that I work for is like a family and we are a close-knit group; we just never leave each other alone :)

Friends/ Dating/ Social Life:
I am starting to feel as if I can spend money-- hang out with friends and do things! It is a nice feeling, so I am starting to have a social life again. It has been a little hectic because my schedule is totally opposite than anybody else, especially when I have to wake up at 3:30 to make it to work on time. This week I am excited because I will be having dinner with a friend that I have known since Kindergarten; it will be great to see her. Then on Thursday, a friend from WSU and I are going to the Mariner game. I haven't been to see one in quite a few years. Whether they win or lose, it will be a great time. And finally, one of my best friends is moving back to the west coast. He is originally from Penn., but he is moving back out for... actually I don't know why. But, I haven't seen him in two years. Very excited. As for dating, I think I am FINALLY ready again, so I am open to the idea haha

I think that is all for now. Not much else than that at the moment. Hope you are all doing well!

We know TONS of people that have done the Seattle marathon or half! The weather is usually pretty crummy (but it has been sunny on occasion), but at least you get to do most of your training in the summer/early fall... go for it!
