First off, I made it home safe and sound. The top of Snoqualmie Pass it was snowing, it wasn't sticking because it was about 34 degrees. But by the end of the night, it should have started to stick to the road. I hope the rest of the students that are going to make their way to the west will make it safely.
Since yesterday was such a long day of waking up early to finish packing and to open at work, then to drive back home, I was certainly tired by the end of the day. It was nice to come home and relax. And believe me, I did just that. I hardly did anything last night except to wrap a couple Christmas gifts so some people won't be snooping around. But, I was able to just lay on the couch last night, which I normally don't EVER do and just do, well, nothing. That felt extremely nice. This morning, I woke up when my internal clock normally wakes me up around 6:00 am, but instead of getting out of bed, I thought I would try to catch up on sleep, I know techincally you can't, but I still like the idea of trying to catch up on it. Needless to say I had no problem falling back asleep and didn't wake up until 9:00.
I had one of the best runs that I have been on in quite a while. I normally NEED to run so I am not so stressed and to take my mind off of things, or to just think about stuff going on in life. But today, I just went for the pleasure of it all. It was magnificant! The air was cold and crisp and I just went where my feet took me. I had no time commitments before or after my run, I could take as little time as needed or as long as I wanted. On the run, I realized how different my running is compared to a couple years ago, even just a year ago. Maybe because I have been reading up on running, or I just am more determined to run in half-marathons or a marathon. But my endurance has certainly improved, dramatically. That is just the start, but I won't bore you with that.
As I sit here, I am so glad to be home. I am sitting in the family room where mom decorated the Christmas tree so beautifully, the lights twinkling. The garland on the fire place, with more white lights, nutcrackers and candles. It feels like Christmas, finally!! And the piano decorated with all of the Christmas music, snowman and Santa. Mom is in the kitchen, cooking away as always and singing to Christmas carols... it does feel like Christmas! The smells, sights, and the spirit!!! I love this time of the year!
