The last time I posted was a couple weeks ago when I was in Chicago. Unfortunately, I had to return to reality...
This upcoming week is my last full-time teaching week!! I cannot believe that I am so close to being done. After this week, it will be smooth sailing for the last two weeks. I have grown extremely attached to all 170 (plus) students that I have. Although some do test my patience and my trust, I will miss them. I have gotten requests to chaperone the senior ball and be a 'row captain' for graduation because they want me to lead them out... but I will not be there!
The good news about being done is that I will not miss my WSU supervisor. She has her good and bad days. At times she tests my patience because she is very opinionated about teaching and some of it depends on perspective. For example, during Hamlet I gave on pop quiz and in my reflection and analysis for my WSU "final," she said in response that pop quizzes are unfair and unproductive, but I disagree since my students all did well, the lowest score was a 70%. If you prepare the students enough for the quiz, there shouldn't be a problem with answering the questions. I am glad to be done with her.
Tomorrow I am headed over to one of my cooperating teacher's house for dinner with his family. He is grilling some food. I am excited to meet his 8-year-old daughter since it is all he talks about, and his wife. I have already have met his wife and she is very sweet.
This past week I went to a job fair at the Tacoma Dome. Definitely wasted my money going because districts were not accepting resumes or applications, and definitely not conducting interviews. Each district informed me: go online and apply, we will not know whether we are hiring or not until the end of May or June. Great. Just great. So if anybody hears of any jobs, please let me know. I also need a full-time summer job. I have absolutely no idea where places are hiring. Side note: if you know of a district hiring, I am willing to even move out of state. Example, San Diego is giving incentives to teachers to retire-- who knows, I might end up there.
Anyways, that is just a quick update about my life. Hope all is going well for everybody! Summer is hopefully coming soon-- we can skip spring and just jump into summer!! Keep your fingers crossed.
