Nickel and Diming

I knew that universities ask for money in every single possible way, I think that is just plain common knowledge. It is just extremely frustrating that in each class that I have entered, I have needed to purchase something additional... well for one single class it is multiple items (one in particular which I will get to in a moment).
Last night while I was sitting in my practicum meeting with fellow peers, Jerry (practicum coordinator) was explaining how we are being placed in the surrounding high schools. There is always a problem subject area to place students with teachers and this year there is two: Health/ Fitness and of course, English. For Health/ Fitness there are 11 students that need to be placed, 4 confirmed teachers that will take students and I believe there was 4 unconfirmed. Even with the 4 confirmed, there are 3 students that do not have a high school to go to. Now, for English there are 8 students to place, 8 which have confirmed but, there is one teacher that just received a student teacher, thus, cannot take one of us. Problem? A little. Now comes the big problem, placing students close to Pullman (this is where the big purchased item comes)... we are all concerned about (a) gas money and (b) the time to and from if we are placed outside of Pullman. We all have busy schedules, we all work and Jerry said that he will try his best to place us as close to Pullman as possible, but there is no guarantees. I am hoping and praying that I will be close... anyways in this class we also have to purchase liability insurance, print out a 100 page document (probably an entire ink cartridge), and get a i.d badge.
Too much? It seems like it... it isn't nickel and diming anymore, it is more like ten and twenty dollaring...
