WSU is proposing a "Beautification Project" that would involve cutting down numerous old trees on our campus. Some have already been removed, and more are being cut down in front of Avery Hall (the English Department home) to make it "more pedestrian-friendly." This building is also a Historical Building on campus.nThe administration is trying to be sneaky and do this during the summer when they know so few students are in Pullman. Faculty (especially the English Department) members who oppose this project are urging students to get involved if we want to save our irreplaceable trees.
Here are some pictures of the construction and the trees with quotes from numerous authors (imagine an English department making a stir about this...)
This is outside looking at the trees before the custruction began...
Also, before the construction started up.

I am hoping you are able to click on the picture to actually ready what it says.

The gorgeous tree outside of Avery, covering so much, giving the campus so much more... beautification, really...

Doesn't it look gorgeous now?! It is so nice they decided to take down the trees to make it look pretty.

I will keep you all updated about this. The English Department is meeting with President Floyd tomorrow.
