I am done, done, done! The only thing I have left to do is turn in all of my assignments, which is nothing, thus, technically I am not done but done doing the work. Yesterday I had the opportunity to just relax, do just absolutely nothing. I figured it would be the best time since I will be extremely busy starting on Friday morning. But I did reflect a little bit on the past semester, there were lessons which I learned.
Lesson #1- If there is snow, travel to Hawaii (mentally)- One of the toughest parts of this semester was the snow and cold. It didn't seem like it would even end- throughout the entire semester each morning I prayed that there was no snow and above 10 degrees. But creating the sun yourself is key- just making the sunshine!
Lesson #2- Hit Me With Your Best Shot- This past couple weeks were a little crazy, especially with T&L 470 and the professor. I am my father's daughter, I like to voice my opinion and shake things up. After I voiced my opinion things which downhill with the professor- but in the end, we hit it out of the park and took care of business.
Lesson #3- Once you have fallen, things can only look up- Endless items were piling up this past semester, it felt like I couldn't keept caught up. A couple times I took a tumble backwards, but things can only look up after that. Just keep going, and rise to the occassion.
Lesson #4- Breaking Boundaries and establishing relationships- I had to create and analyze my teaching philosophy. This was interesting and key since this is the foundation of what I stand for as a teaching which will be asked and a key point during interviews. My philosophy works around establishing relationships and breaking down the boundaries to reach the students.
Lesson #5- 1 job... 2 job... 3! From a barista to a bartender/waitress to a writing tutor, I am it! Tricks of the trade to make all ends meet! Work baby work!
There are many other tiny lessons learned along the way. In the end, it was a pretty good semester. Summer session here I come!!
