At 4:30 am I jump at the blaring sound in my ear of Something Has Got Me Started, the ringtone on my phone which I have set for my alarm. I hit the snooze button, fully knowing that I still have another half hour until my radio alarm which is placed across the room (so I HAVE to get up) goes off screaming more loud noise. In a sound routine, I still struggle at times to get out of bed to get to the rec center at 5:30 am, first of all, what college student wakes up at that time to go?! Second, that is so early, the sun hasn't even started to rise yet. Third, most of the time it is freezing, need to defrost the windows of the car (it is getting better), shivering in my workout clothes waiting for the car to warm up... who would want to go then, it does not sound appealing at all!! When I get to the rec center I know I will be seeing all of the regulars that go: a couple (wife and husband), another professor, and a couple others whom I haven't talked to but I know will be there. It seems like the tv show Cheers, when you walk in and everybody knows your name. There is a girl named Katie that is also a senior, she and I have become pretty good friends from seeing each other at the rec every morning. We have our treadmills which we run for a half hour and talk in the morning at 6 am, when she gets there. And I know, for both of us, if either one of us is not there a red light goes off, hoping that the other is okay. I got a call from her the other morning, just making sure I was fine because I didn't show up to the rec, I told her the previous morning I should be there working out and if I wasn't, well something was wrong. Needless to say I accidently forgot to set my one radio alarm. It is a nice piece of motivation having somebody there to keep you on your toes!
Like my previous post said, I have a new job. I got a call from Pete's yesterday (Friday) afternoon, totally not expecting to hear from him. Anyways, yadda yadda yadda, he offered me a job as a bartender! The sad news is that my Spring Break on the westside will be cut short, I have to be back on Monday by 5 pm to help with a private party. Throughout the rest of the week will be training as well as (if I want) to help spring clean, which I most likely will to get to know some of the staff as well as extra money! Last night I was able to tell the owner of Cafe Moro I was giving her my two weeks, which Spring Break counts as one (yay) so I don't really have to work there anymore! I was thrilled to say the least. I kept thanking Joe (Pete's owner) for the job... over and over and over again. I am thrilled since I will be getting more tips and more hours that are solid. It will definitely be an experience to say the least, being a bartender. I will have to change my sleep pattern most likely, but oh well.
Hope everything is going well for everybody else!!

I'll drink to that.
Does this mean you will be in charge of serving up the drinks at the next family gathering? Bartending is an important skill for any WSU grad to have... you'll have a back-up in case that teaching degree doesn't come through!
