Life is a progress- not a station (Ralph Emerson)

When I started cooking for myself at college, I had a difficult time figuring out what to make, how much to make, what to buy. It is difficult to cook for a single person; even if I wanted leftovers, I didn't want them for the entire week. I knew that cooking could be a fun activity that can be creative as well; especially with limited resources. When I went home the one item I really wanted before I left, to bring with me, was rice. Why? I am not exactly sure why, but I have always loved rice and stir fry. With limited time to cook on a daily basis I usually just grab a bag of salad, pour it into a bowl and grab some other veggies, throw those in and then have a sandwich or something else. It has been a progression of getting really tired of this routine. So when I looked my cuboard I realized that I had rice. Looked at all the other food I had, I finally figured out what to make. It actually turned out great! The good news is that, if I am at home, I can start the rice and let it sit for the 45 minutes to steam while accomplishing other stuff that I need to such as homework. I am just glad that I found something else, for the time being, and have been creative with cooking! YAY!

This will already being the third week of classes- how crazy. It doesn't seem as if I have been in class that long already. On Friday I had a quiz in the ESL course, which was going over the disability laws for students. It wasn't very hard, I only missed 2 questions- didn't even study. The exam, however, is going to be a whole different ball game. Unlike the quiz, there are essay questions and the professor is a perfectionist when going over this stuff, and we should be as well since we don't want to get sued. There is a lot of disability laws and details that a lot of parents and public in general doesn't know about. The exam is on Wednesday so it will be nice to have this long weekend to study. One class which I am having a little trouble is my sociology class- it is specficially analyzing families. The essay homework questions are pretty difficult to analyze and since it is a research base questions, compared to English it is different format- something I am clearly not used to. I guess I better get used to it for this semester!

The snow and ice is driving me crazy! It is hard to walk, very hard. I have slipped and fallen a couple times now. Once was when I was dropping something off at Alex's house and I was walking up his drive to the door, yes, it was slick and I fell. His steps to the door were in mounds of snow and ice, I also slipped within the next 5 seconds going up those. Oh well, everybody does it over here, that is life. I was walking behind a girl through Greek Row and she was carefully walking along (I walk behind people to see if they fall, where not to walk) and unforunately she wasn't walking careful enough (apparently) and she completely biffed it. That poor girl, she was laughing but I think she hurt herself.

The Cougar basketball team is still doing well, only one loss!!
